“The Journey to Freedom” created by Wesley Wofford is 9’ tall and has been traveling across the United States since 2020. The intention behind this traveling monument was to resemble Harriet’s travels to free hundreds of enslaved people. It is a beautiful tribute. You can follow this link to learn more about the exhibition: https://www.woffordsculpturestudio.com/exhibitions/harriet-tubman
Join us on Saturday, August 31, as we bid farewell to the Harriet Tubman: The Journey to Freedom exhibit that has been installed at the Kerr Community Center since June 19th.
We will be joined by Ms. Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth, who will be available for photos and book signings.
This is a free, family friendly event.
This traveling exhibition is being sponsored by Jamie and Clint Howard of Found Fine Art and Pyrology Foundry & Studio in Bastrop.
